The Queen Head is an intimate, quiet establishment that's run with warmth and efficiency. Ian, its manager, fulfilled our every desire and need which included accommodating our special dietary requirements seemingly effortlessly and, when a sudden need arose to catch a train some 15 miles away, offered to drive us there himself.
As for the meals, they were delicious, ample, variegated, and served with enough flair to impress my wife who, having served for three years as catering manager of the Scottish National Orchestra, is difficult-to-please. The rooms were spacious and the beds very comfortable.
Embedded in pastoral, rolling country. Taking a walk we "discovered" the Finghall station on the Wensleydale Railway, a steam locomotive line where we passed two enchanted hours. Overall, the Queens Head more than met our expectations and was an excellent value. We can recommend it with enthusiasm.
