04/13/2013 We spend three beautiful days in Eleonas resort with my family, in middle of December. We easily could stay a full week. Lot of thinks to do: several walks, easy and difficult ones ( a very good walking map is given by the reception), road trip around the beautiful area, visiting the historic and archaeological sights. And after a busy day turning back to the welcome atmosphere of the resort and our cozy cottage with fire place and splendid mountain view. And specially to the absolutely delicious restaurant, with all local dishes jammiiii ( you will remember me).

08/29/2010 We arrived late at night at Eleonas, but general manager Manos was already expecting us, and offered us a warm welcome by parking our car (the steep slope can be a challenge on your first day in Crete) and carrying our suitcases to our cottage. That proved to be an example of both the perfectionist attitude of Manos and his team, as well the hospitality of this part of Crete.

The resort offers a mix of traditional cottages and hotel-like service. That includes daily cleaning of the cottages and changing of bed linen and towels, plus a luxurious breakfast. Most food is (traditionally) self-made, and homegrown where possible.

If you're into bungee jumping and disco parties, you'll be disappointed. We however were looking for a relaxed time, and found it. It must have been one of our most relaxed holidays ever. The location seems a bit in the middle of nowhere, but proves to be a perfect base for exploring central Crete (e.g. Phaistos, southern beaches).
