We arrived late at night at Eleonas, but general manager Manos was already expecting us, and offered us a warm welcome by parking our car (the steep slope can be a challenge on your first day in Crete) and carrying our suitcases to our cottage. That proved to be an example of both the perfectionist attitude of Manos and his team, as well the hospitality of this part of Crete.
The resort offers a mix of traditional cottages and hotel-like service. That includes daily cleaning of the cottages and changing of bed linen and towels, plus a luxurious breakfast. Most food is (traditionally) self-made, and homegrown where possible.
If you're into bungee jumping and disco parties, you'll be disappointed. We however were looking for a relaxed time, and found it. It must have been one of our most relaxed holidays ever. The location seems a bit in the middle of nowhere, but proves to be a perfect base for exploring central Crete (e.g. Phaistos, southern beaches).
Two thumbs up!
