03/25/2013 The hotel is located near the places you wat to visit during the day. Although you don't have a lot of restaurants to visit during the night, you have a couple of places to go and a bar across the street.
The city atmosphere is great and you feel very safe all the time. You can walk at night or visit any restaurant by taxi. The restaurants are very cheap, you can eat withe dessert for less than 20 E.

07/20/2012 We enjoyed our stay, but Rome is very crowded with tourists during the summer. It's also very hot, almost like our Texas summers. If we return again to Rome, we will come off-season during cooler months. I don't remember it being so crowded and hot when we visited 16 years ago, and we came in February and March. That season is ideal. We love seeing the ancient sights and eating gelato. Overall, a wonderful trip; we'd just come off-season next time.
Our favorite evening was a night walk during the Euro Football playoffs. Every restaurant had a TV on and many watch parties were held outdoors. Everyone had an Italian flag to show their support. It was quite exciting to observe.

07/20/2012 It is a very intriguing city

07/20/2012 It was wonderful to be able to take our children to Rome and show them the rich history. However, the city is not as clean as it once was, there are many more beggars, and sketchy discrepancies. For example, the tourist tax.....we were charged 8 euros at one restaurant, but not any others. Another discrepancy, on the Tren Italian website, it said train travel was free for children under 13, but I was charged anyway. When I asked the ticket operator about that, she said that I had to pay. ???? Things like that make me suspicious. There should be a uniform way of doing things. Rome has so much to see and appreciate, just beware of the things we experienced.
