I had expected to like Scotland but mostly for it's nature, I had not expected Edinburgh to be this insanely awesome! WHAT a city! The centre is a postcard really, the architecture is so gorgeous, and having gone on 3 walking tours (one of which was an underground vault tour) and hearing all about the city's extremely long and rich history added an extra dimension to the experience. Breakfast in the café where JK Rowling wrote Harry Potter followed by a visit to the National Museum of Scotland which hosts a very broad collection and is housed in a stunning building. St. Giles Cathedral is a prime example of beautiful church architecture and obviously inspired JK Rowling in designing various Hogwarts ornaments. But the best part about Edinburgh is Arthur's Seat: a giant park with these hills perfect for an afternoon hike within a walking distance from the city centre!
