06/25/2009 We booked two rooms each with private bathrooms at the Pod Hotel. We loved our cozy pod. An innovative, cool hotel that makes the most of a very small space with style. Not for luxury hotel lovers, but great for those looking for a bargain. When in NYC, why spend time in your room? All that you need is in your pod. Surrounding neighborhood has some great little restaurants, particularly right around the corner on Second Ave. Close to the subway and a pretty easy walk to Fifth Ave and the theater district. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

06/25/2009 Good location, nice rooms although small, but why would you want to be in a hotel room in NY except for some sleeping? The lobby was nice.

06/25/2009 New York is expensive. Did I say New York is expensive? With many hotels going for $400/night I found this place and paid well under $200/night for it.

If you HAVE to have a bathroom in your room- forget it- but if you've traveled in Europe and/or don't mind going down the hall to use the shared facilities, then this place is great.

The room I had was a bunk bed- but I was by myself, so no issue. I found the hotel very clean, and recently remodeled.

The location is fine also on 51st between 2nd and 3rd Avenues.

06/25/2009 My husband and I stayed at the Pod 9/11 - 9/14/08. We chose it because we had stayed there many times when it was the Pickwick Arms, and because it was the least exorbitant of the prices I found. The hotel looks good with its updated decor and name change, is very clean, and the personnel were very friendly and helpful. The room however was VERY tiny. We had one double bed and private bath. You could hardly move in the bathroom. I would imagine larger people than us would find it difficult. We did expect the small room, but for $249 a night (which believe it or not was a "good" price) and being in a great part of town we decided it would do. There is a nice little park across the street, a great bagel shop on 3rd, and tons of good and reasonable restaurants nearby.

06/25/2009 The bathroom in our room smelled strongly of mildew. We had to keep the door closed and the bathroom window open at all times.

The staff was inexperienced, and sometimes rude.

Although it was less expensive than other hotels, I still do not feel it was worth the money.

06/25/2009 My husband and I visited NYC for a short get-a-way to celebrate our 10th Anniversary and had a great stay at the Pod Hotel. The rooms are definitely small - we had a double with bathroom (but it reminded us of our honeymoon where we took a sleeper car train from Paris to Barcelona!). Once we unpacked and put things away, we were fine with the size (for 2 nights) and spent so much time out and about in the City that it wasn't a problem at all. There were people of all ages there (despite the hotel's website photos) which was refreshing and there were great restaurants and other conveniences right out the front door. Only negative that we experienced was the quality of the bedding and linens. We would plan to stay at the Pod Hotel again.

06/25/2009 We found it clean, in a convenient location, restaurants close by. Even if you have a room that shares a bathroom, there were plenty and we never had to wait, and best of all, they were clean and modern. The price was right and we would stay again. Loved the cafe outside, it was convenient for breakfast.

06/25/2009 Really liked the ambiance, location is great, staff were all very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was great in the outdoor area, but a little slow. The bunkbed room is tiny (smaller than I expected), but it's fine (had to move luggage to open the door). Shared bathrooms weren't really an issue--they were fairly clean. I did run upstairs once when both on our floor were engaged, and then also checked out the roof deck.

06/25/2009 My sister and I just returned from New York and stayed at the Pod Hotel.
We had bunk beds and used the shared bathrooms. Although we were somewhat hesitant before our arrival, we were very pleased with the hotel and even the bathroom situations. They were always very clean, great spa-type music piped through and all in all just fine.
We chose the Pod because of the affordable price, and the fact that we are almost never in the room while in New York.
We have stayed at many other hotels, (Waldorf, Hyatt, Marriott, etc.), and would stay there again, for sure.
